Ethan Jankowski: Mercurial for Unaccompanied Flute

Mercurial is an original piece by a close friend of mine Ethan Jankowski. This performance is from his senior capstone recital and I'm honored to perform this work. Working directly with the composer for a work is always a pleasure. It also rained very hard during his recital, but I think the ambiance adds to the mystery of the piece!

Gustav Holst: The Planets - IV. Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity

An orchestra of flutes! This arrangement of Holst’s Jupiter is written for a flute orchestra made of 14 parts: 2 piccolos, 6 flutes, 3 alto flutes, 2 bass flutes, and 1 optional contrabass flute. Jupiter is the first movement of the suite I’ve arranged in this format, with the other movements in progress. Completed movements can be found here as they become available, as well as a playlist on my YouTube channel.

Lowell Liebermann: Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra

American composer Lowell Liebermann combines elements of traditional tonality and structure with more adventurous harmonies. The first two movements set a warm yet haunting and mysterious mood, while the finale is brilliant and full of energy, quoting famous orchestral works without a piccolo part in their scores.

Philippe Gaubert: Sonata No. 3 for Flute and Piano

A French composer, conductor, and flute virtuoso, Philippe Gaubert wrote many compositions primarily for flute. His three sonatas for flute and piano among many others are all staples in the flute repertoire.
