Performing as Principal Flute in the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra spring concert

Music has always been a part of my life.  Even at a young age, sounds have fascinated me.  Studying flute and composition, I graduated from Elmhurst College in 2020 equipped with a double major in both Performance and Composition.  With these skills, I create captivating original scores, beautiful typeset copy, faithful orchestral arrangements, masterful flute recordings, enthralling film soundtracks, and much more.

As a Performer

Performing flute with other people is when I feel most at home.  It is an honor to have worked with so many great teachers and friends in college.  At Elmhurst College, I was a part of many different groups, primarily Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic Orchestra where I served as principal flute and section leader.  Leadership did not stop there because I was in charge of organizing and rehearsing the Elmhurst Flute Choir.  Musical pit orchestras are my personal favorite groups to perform with.  During my college career, I had the honor of accepting several awards, including performing in the Honors Solo Recital and Honors Chamber Recital, reserved only for the best players in the department. A few recordings I have done can be found on my Listen page.

As a Composer

As a classically trained composer, I write music that takes the listener to other places, imagining the warm sun, soft breezes, or dark forests.  Star of the East, an original piece for choir, was awarded first prize in a competition for new choir music hosted by Acappellago.  The score enveloped the choir and audience with its “lush harmonies and beautiful melodic writing” at the premiere.  Here, you can find more about Star of the East.  I mainly write for live musicians, but I also work with digital audio, occasionally being some of my favorite works.  Aside from original music, arrangements are a staple in my portfolio, especially for instrument choirs.  Many of these arrangements, such as Holst’s First Suite in E-flat, were performed by the flute choir.  Although mostly orchestral pieces, I record arrangements of video game scores too.  These soundtracks are masterfully written, and I aim to share these great works with a wider audience. My current published pieces can be found on my Works page.
